Seafood Market at Boulevard Kitchen Manzil Downtown Hotel

I was really impressed with the interior and size of the Boulevard Kitchen. Its usually an Arabic restaurant but on Thursdays it turns into a seafood market. The concept is pretty interesting. There is a variety of daily catches of the sea to pick from or a 3 course A la carte menu in 3 different styles.

We arrived on time for our reservation which was 8:30. The theme night starts at 8 till 11 pm and I was really impressed on how full the restaurant was. and the buffet was already pretty attacked at.

There are lots of seats inside the restaurant but since the weather is good in Dubai these days, I asked to sit us outside which means we had to wait in the list, but finally it worked and we actually got a great table next to the water display outside.

After being properly briefed by the staff, I decided to go for the daily catch and my friend ordered from the set menu!

starting at the buffet, everything and I mean everything including Salad, Soup, starters and of course mains contains seafood. I liked the variety of salads in the buffet but rather to have a non-fishy soup! After salad and soup I head to the buffet again to pick my fish or fishes as you can have unlimited fish from buffet made to your order. I chose Seabass, Sardine and Hammur to be grilled and fried prawns.

My friend ordered from the menu which was the combination of seafood and beef comes with grilled greens and saffron rice and beans on the side.

For the dessert we had fried ice cream, strawberry mouse, fresh fruits and grilled banana with caramel and cream and a green tea and a cappuccino, #YUM!!!

They serve shisha in the boulevard kitchen which makes it a perfect place to hang out with friends and family and even for longer time than your dinner takes.

They also have a café which is facing the downtown boulevard with outdoor sitting, I liked the place and if you also visit and liked it don't forget to drop me a line!

Keep Calm and do Rose & Crown

The Rose & Crown is the latest addition to English pubs in town. The warm and cozy atmosphere is welcoming, the wooden floor, brown leather sofas, fireplace, red benches with stained glass and frames on the walls immediately makes you feel very pleased and want to stay…

At the Rose & Crown they show the live games and sports so all together makes it a perfect spot to spend a night out with friends and chill down. The night that I visited, there was a football game showing live and they had some really special guests (Arab Royalty!!!) in the house who took over the whole first floor to watch the game and play some pool! So we chose our table on the ground floor (which is more nice!)

We were greeted warmly with the very friendly staff who were there all night long watching us and ready to serve all the time! (we were watched!!!)

Started the night with ordering drinks, as you do! A glass of red wine for my friend and an Apple cider draft for me!

We also ordered soup of the say which was vegetable soup, Chicken Cesare Salad and Quinoa Salad, Deep fried Scampi and Chips & Curry Sauce!

I was really impressed with the Quinoa salad as it was really fresh and with lots of berries and beets! Fried Scampi was delicious and Chips tasted really good and different with the curry sauce, I like them but my friend was not a big fan of the curry sauce with French fries and she prefered to have it old fashion with catchup!

For the main course we ordered The Big Ben which is the towering landmark! 250g beef patty toped with runny fried egg, pork bacon and sage mayo, with crispy onion rings and fried pickles and chips!
I am not sure about the fried pickles but the rest was so yummy and the beef was done to perfection!

Beef Fillet steak with 2 sauces and 3 sides. Actually this was a special order for me because I really could not decide on what sauce or sides to go for but usually steaks comes with 2 sides and 1 sauce! The Beef was done pink to medium and it was so soft, juicy and yummy with beautiful grill marks on top which made it visually great too.

From the favourite Pub Grub menu I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, a dish that has very smartly opened its way from India to Britain and being put on every Brit menu as if they own it… It was a nice one and I liked it but having it in that environment next to a steak or Bangers & Mash was a bit weird so I suggest you either go all the way English or go Indian when you order… or not! just enjoy and be happy with what you eat!!!

Talking about Bangers & Mash, its a must have if you eat pork… mash potato was done really smooth and nice and the sausage was fresh and well seasoned and the golden onion jus or gravy was so good, out of this world!

We ended the night with a cappuccino and an Americano coffee plus a warm chocolate pudding and a cheesecake of the day! The warm chocolate cake was all that you expect from a good chocolate cake with a soft heart and cheesecake was great to have after all that sweetness. Tart flavor of chees with a slightly sweetened biscuit base and a sour strawberry sauce finished it nicely.

If you want a night out only for drinks and have a relaxing chat with friends or get cozy with your loved one I suggest you choose the sofas next to the fireplace. Its a more private space and you still have the whole view of the bar and pub!

I will definitely go back to Rose & Crown for more.

Mori Sushi Restaurant Review

Tonight was Sushi night and I was so excited that I did not eat anything since morning! I wanted to make sure I have enough space to eat as much as I can…

We head down to Mori Sushi in Downtown Emaar Square. I easily parked my car in the building parking which is free for 3 hours if your validate your coupon and walked to the restaurant where I was welcomed by the friendly staff.

The décor is simple with natural elements like wood and green plants and well fitted for a casual street star restaurant!

The menu is too big so I asked the waiter to help us in choosing the food and he did a great job because I loved every option he suggested so you can trust the staff for being knowledgeable and well trained when it comes to the food they serve.

For the drinks we had lemon and mint mojito and strawberry mojito and water:

We started with

  • Miso soup
  • Salted Edamame
  • Spicy Shrimp Mayonnaise
  • Bon Bon
  • Crab & Shrimp Salad
  • Seaweed Salad

My favorite of all the starters was Bon Bon and Spicy shrimps and I loved the crab salad too. The seaweed salad was too fresh and crunchy and great for cleansing the pallet!

For the main we ordered from grill menu as well as deep fried sushi, sashimi and normal sushi:

  • Beef Skewer
  • Maguaro Sashimi
  • Sake Sashimi
  • Spicy Lemon Roll
  • Hot Bankok Roll
  • Special Ura Calamari Roll
  • New Style Philadelphia
  • Hungry Roll
  • Piccaso Roll
  • Philadelphia Roll
  • Pink Panther
  • Mori Rainbow Roll
  • Dragon Roll
  • Crispy Salmon Cheddar

Our favorites are Hot Bankok Roll, Spicy Lemon Roll, Sashimi and New style Phili. I did not like the Crispy Salmon Cheddar because of too much rice and Cheddar flavor. For the rest of the rolls I felt the taste is too similar or at that point I could not say any difference between them as I was about to explode.

But you know I would never say no to desert so the yummy part of dinner was still to come:

  • Swiss Chocolate Fondant with Vanilla Ice cream
  • Richy Crème Brulee

and the winner for the desert battle was the Swiss chocolate fondant with Vanilla ice cream for the better look and sweet Choco flavor and the frozen cold ice cream.

If you have a soft spot for Sushi, Mori Sushi is one of the places you have to visit for a casual laid back sushi indulgent.
